'La Truzza'

(italian way to say "person with bad taste" so Kitsch)

About the artwork:

"My work is mainly focusing on the aesthetic of ugliness from the 1800's to nowadays. My research aims to analyze all the aspects that caracterize the ugliness, from the grotesque to the comic, from the disharmony to the kitsch. For some contemporary philosophers the new stepstone of ugliness is the kitsch, about which Umberto Eco is talking in his book "History of Ugliness". When I received the concept of the exhibition I directly had the vision of a really punk Kitsch woman dressed full pink leopard. From the 90's to the 2020 the conception of animalier pattern changed a lot, passing from chic to kitsch. This was the main idea of this work, to represent how people are perceiving animalier patterns and the meaning of it."
